Animal archetypes
Archetypes are facets of personality and behaviour: sometimes a hamster, sometimes a lion. All the project’s archetypes are collected here; each one has its own page.
- An archetype is a facet, not a type and not a diagnosis.
- A similar archetype is a close facet; a complete opposite is the opposite one.
- The most suitable archetypes and suitable animals can be found in two tests — for yourself, a friend, a girlfriend, or a pet.

Browse by trait or scale
You can browse archetypes by character rather than alphabetically: by traits such as playfulness or independence, or by the 22 IPIP+22 scales.
How to read an archetype page
Traits are the qualities tradition attributes to the image. Opposite traits are what it lacks.
Similar archetypes are close facets; the complete opposite is the opposite facet. It is a way to see how one trait turns into another.
What is an animal archetype?
The image of an animal and the qualities tradition gives it. Here an archetype is a facet of personality and behaviour, not a type and not a diagnosis.
How do I find my archetypes?
Take “Pick an animal” or “Refine traits” — for yourself, a male or female friend, or a pet.
